Good News!

We have good news all around!

Tracker is finally going home on Friday, to a beautiful house where he will never be chained outside or left in the rain and with all the yogurt and cottage cheese he can eat. Thank you Michelle and Todd for being Tracker's angels!

Dixie was adopted last weekend, she went to live in Orlando with her new mom and dad, Brenda and Darren. They recently lost their best friend, a cocker spaniel named Beezer, and opened their hearts to Dixie. Thank you Brenda and Darren!

Hunter went to live with Hillary and Michael Stewart in Apollo Beach. They not only have 3 jack russell terriers and a 7 month old Vizsla named Riley, but they also own their own holistic pet specialty store and volunteer for Underdog Rescue of Florida. Talk about a dog-filled life! Hunter goes to the store every day with Hillary and is an official store greeter.

From Hillary:

"Just thought I would let you know Hunter is doing great!! We just adore him!! He loves our house and most of all it looks like he's been in our store greeting customers his whole life! He's just perfect. Sunday and Monday he didn't eat that well like you said but now he's an eater! Especially his mommy's homemade cookies! Thanks again for giving us this great opportunity. We just LOVE him!"

We have a few more Vizslas possibly coming into rescue, and I will post more information as I receive it. So get those applications in! :)

The Out Takes (August 11, 2008)

You may have noticed some new pictures of Tracker on the Avalaible Dogs page of the website. I thought I'd include some of the out takes here, he's a hard guy to get a picture of, always moving! He's as sweet as he is handsome, and is still available for adoption, so fill out the application if you're interested!

Sasha (now Daisy) went to her new home in Lakeland. She has a 1 year old Vizsla brother named Dax and they get along great! Thank you Melissa and Daniel for giving her the home she deserves!

We have a 2 year old male coming into rescue, I'll post more about him when I meet him. We have some good applications in for him, but we can never have too many! Often we have applications for dogs before they even come in, so get your applications in if you're interested in a future Vizsla rescue.

We all had a great time at the 9th Annual Vizsla Fun Day! Dixie got adopted and many recent and past rescuers came out with their pups and hopefully had a fun time. There were 89 red dog participants in the Vizsla Welfare Foundation's Epilepsy Program, great job everyone! We hope to see you all back out again next year!

July 25

I have two updates today!

One is from Penny's foster mom, Tammy. Penny is the 5 month old puppy who came from the Flagler Humane Society. According to Tammy, Penny is very sweet and well behaved for a puppy (remember though that Vizsla puppies are full of energy!) She seems to have some sores on her back legs from being kept in a crate her whole life (she was likely kept in puppy mill conditions) and is not yet housebroken, but Tammy is working on that! She is very thin and needs some muscle development, but has a beautiful head, ears, and body. She does look like she's going to be a big girl, maybe 50+ pounds when she is full grown. She's outgoing and social, not fearful of anything yet, and has been sharing kisses with everyone. She has a gorgeous, staunch point. Tammy promises me that we will get some pictures of her on Sunday and that she will make someone a great dog!

Penny is still looking for a home, if you are interested please fill out the application!

Next, Tracker came home from his heartworm treatment today. He's very sleepy and worn out, and his sad face reminds me why it is SO important to give your dogs heartworm preventative every month and get them a heartworm test every year. It's so much easier and less expensive to treat if you catch it early! Here in Florida, heartworms are almost a guarantee if dogs are not on prevention.

Tracker is also still available for adoption and looking for his forever home. He is the sweetest, most loving and affectionate dog and is going to make someone so happy! Please fill out the application if you are interested!

Weds., July 23

Tomorrow Tracker goes in for his first heart worm treatment, so he will have to be kept calm for a few weeks. That should be a fun experiment, this boy comes bounding out of his crate full of energy and ready to play. He and my 15 month old V puppy Jake have been playing tug-of-war for days, so much for all the stuffed animals we had collected. Tracker can also catch a frisbee in the air and LOVES to chase lizards. He does great with all other dogs, has been to the dog park and has tail wags for everyone. He and Jake fell asleep on the couch last night all tangled up in each other snuggling, I tried to get a picture, but in typical vizsla fashion, they jumped up to follow me when I went to get the camera.

He's extremely affectionate and sweet, loves any and all attention, is scared of nothing and is going to make somebody a great pet.

I'll also be posting another dog to the "Available Dogs" page too. He's about 2 years old, but he needs to go to a hunting home, he's a hunting dog through and through. He'd prefer hunting to snuggling on the couch, but in the right home he can make a great dog and hunting companion. I'll post more information as it comes in!

Hi everyone, welcome to the TBVCR Web Log! If you're new, TBVCR is the rescue committee of the Tampa Bay Vizsla Club. I am Crystal, one of the rescue chairs and the owner of 2 great Vizslas. I'm very involved in the TBVC and am also the webmaster for the rescue site.

I hope that this blog will serve as a updater--to post pictures of our rescue get togethers, our fun day events, and let you know what is going on with our current rescues. Currently Tracker is the only dog we have in rescue, but you never know from day to day what's going to happen!

Email me to let me know if you can help with rescue--whether it be by fostering, transporting, or donating, we are always looking for volunteers and are VERY grateful for the help we get. Also let me know if you have any suggestions for this website--things you'd like to see, important information, etc. Thanks and I hope you enjoy this web log!
